Lord, we come before you thanking you for your faithfulness, gentleness and self -control. We’re asking you to forgive us of our sins as we come before you thanking you for all you have done. We thank you and serve you because we know you are a faithful God who loves us and wants the best for us. Delight in the Lord and do good, dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart as stated in Psalm 37:3-4. In your faithfulness, you give us grace, mercy and love that is why we should always show gratitude to you for your faithfulness. No matter what we go through we should always remember your love and faithfulness to us in all things. Psalm 89 says, “I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.”
When we are showing gentleness, we must not look at ourselves as being better than others but instead show gentleness to others whether we have been done wrong. Lord, help us to remember John 8:5-11 when the Pharisees brought a woman to Jesus who committed adultery and wanted to stone her. Jesus told them gently, “who has not sinned throw the first stone.” We must use gentleness to help others. We should always want to be kind, courteous, and polite, but never rude, abrupt or harsh. We should have a gentle and quiet spirit, which is pleasing to God. We ask you Lord for a discerning spirit and always remind us how kind and gentle the Lord is to us. Galatians 6:1 states, “Brethren if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” In addition, Proverbs 15:4 states, “A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
Lord, you are a God of self-control, and I want to look like you in everything I do and speak. 1 Peter 4:7-8 says, “The end of all things is at hand; therefore, be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.” Lord, I pray that self-control will grow in our lives like a tree of strength. I pray we have self-control in what we say and do. We will line up with your Holy Spirit. Lord, the prayer of serenity is that God grant the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. When anger rises in me calms my mind and gives me peace rather than frustration. The only way I can do this is through your Holy Spirit. Help me to overcome actions that are not pleasing to you. David showed self-control when he only cut off a portion of Saul’s robe when he was in pursuit of him and even though Saul wanted to kill him, he didn’t harm him. We do not always know what to do but our eyes are on you, because your spirit guides us in the right way. I know that you are always in control so help us to be faithful, gentle and have self-control in all we do and speak. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen!!
