We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. (Hebrews 6:12).
“The more we trust and believe in someone, the more patient we are toward them. If a tradesman promises to come as soon as possible, we will wait for him more patiently if we trust him and know that he is reliable and means what he says. Our patience with God depends upon how much we trust and believe in him.” (quoted by Ron Graham)
James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
Patience in trusting God make you have all of God’s promises. We don’t have to beg or try to push Him into doing something. He hears all of our asking and knows the desires of our hearts. So, we ask and wait patiently on the Lord. He is a God that neither slumber nor sleeps. He is always preparing us for His blessings. He watches over the desires of our hearts and bless them as they coincide with His will. During this process we are to listen to the guiding of the Holy Spirit and be willing to obey His will. Remember the promise, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things {which includes the desires of your heart} will be given to you as well.” (written in Matthew 6:33 NIV) So, we must practice not to be worried or anxious for anything but to practice patience and trusting God’s Word. If you say, you believe, talk to others about God’s faithfulness and let your faith move mountains in your life. For God promised in Isaiah 40:31, ” But they that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings of eagles; they shall run, and not be weary ( meaning there should not be any fear or doubt in the waiting) they shall walk, and not faint ( meaning you should not bring on any sicknesses to your body such as heart attacks, strokes, cancer, etc.) as you wait on God to bless you with the desires of your heart. God is perfect and His giving is fulfilling. God strengthens our belief and trust in him by testing us. Each time we pass a test we become stronger in our faith and increase in our patience toward God. During Job’s test he remained faithful to God, patient with God, and kept love for his friends in their deceitfulness.
According to Job 42:10, “After Job has prayed for his friends, the Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before. Job did not grow weary in trusting God and indicated it in Job 13:15, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.” Patience and trust blessed Job abundantly, again!
For the Bible says, “Whoever is patient has great understanding… (Proverb 14:29); to “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer(Romans 12:12 NIV); “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 NIV); For “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14)
Therefore, we pray with expectations. This way pleases God. And as we wait, we should practice praising and worshiping Him for the things He has done, is doing, and will do in Jesus’s name. In addition, keep a loving heart towards Jesus and mankind.
Patience Saves!
